why do i blog?

first of all! i just wanted to say..

thank you for all the kind words yesterday. whether it was on plurk, here on my blog, on flickr or in world… i had so many nice messages yesterday about the post i wrote that it made it all a little easier on me. you have no idea how much that meant to me && i appreciate every single good thought sent my way. you guys are so compassionate and sweet, i’m sending all those good thoughts right back to you. ❤❤

now, with that said! strawberry singh is great at giving me topics to blog about! i’ve been really enjoying her blogging memes and challenges.. they give me something extra to yak on about. ;P but this one is all about blogging in general, so i was pretty excited to tuck in..

why do i blog?

so, why do i blog?.. let’s find out~

How long have you been blogging? when it comes to second life things, i started my original blog in may 2010. but blogging in general… geez, a lot longer than that! i’ve always enjoyed writing, even when i was very young, and i’ve had lots of “blogs” over the years. i used livejournal (and deadjournal!) for a long time, as a personal day-to-day dairy, i’ve had roleplaying journals and blogs.. i’ve even had a blog all centered around the adventures my sims got into (yes, i am that dorky).

Why did you start blogging? i’ll focus on the sl-related blogging stuffs for these questions, soooo…. i started blogging because i was inspired to. when i discovered the second life blogiverse, i found a few freebie blogs first… and then stumbled upon randi lenroy’s blog, daily roo. her sense of style was so unique and awesome and, in a way, very close to my own taste (though she’s so much more talented at styling and photography than i ever will be), so i decided if she could do it.. i could do it, too. i liked writing and i liked second life fashion, so i dove in head-first. you can see a lot of her influence in my older fashion posts, i pretty much used her blog as a nice concise shopping list. ;p

with this blog, it was definitely alicia chenaux that inspired me to start an everyday kind of blog. i was looking for an excuse to get back into blogging and i’ve read her blog for yeeeeeeeeears (hi, alicia, i silently stalk your blog ❤) and i thought it was a fantastic idea. ..so i stole it from her. teehee?

How many times a week do you post an entry? at least a couple times a week! i used to strive for posting daily on my fashion blog, and for a while i kept up with it while i had the time, but it gets a little stressful when you feel like you have to post every single day. with this blog, i hope to keep my posting pretty regular at at least a few posts a week.

How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis? lots!! i have my own favorites (most of which are listed on the sidebar over there, under blogs i love) and i check them frequently, hoping to see new posts. but i also browse the feeds for fashion posts and new releases, so i suppose i read quite a lot of blogs.

Do you comment on other people’s blogs? i’ve been trying to get better with this! getting comments on my own posts is always exciting, so i’ve been trying lately to leave comments on other people’s posts that i really enjoy. unfortunately, i’m kind of shy sometimes (shocker, ikr?) and i’m not always sure what to say other than i really like this!.. same with on flickr and even on plurk, too. i’m *totally* a lurker by nature and would rather read than comment, but i’ve been trying to get more out there and comment on the things i like.

Did you ever regret a post that you wrote? not yet. 😀 i never posted anything scandalous or controversial on my fashion blog — if i didn’t like something 100%, i simply did not blog it — but there’s a chance with *this* blog that i might post more opinionated things. however! i doubt there will be anything i’d truly regret.. i’m not a mean-spirited or overly dramatic type of person. the only thing i can see myself regretting is sharing too much, but that’s all part of the fun of having a more personal blog~

Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog? that’s my goal! this blog is still new, so i’m still working out the kinks myself on what i want to post about, but that was a big part of why i wanted to start this one in the first place. i get really attached to people whose blogs i read (or even, the people in video blogs i watch frequently or who i follow on plurk, etc etc) and i like feeling as if i’m getting to know them through their writing. so i hope that’s what i’m able to do here with my readers.. and i appreciate every single person that takes the time to read the things i say here!

Do you blog under your real name? in the past, yes i have. here though, it’s just under my second life name.

Are there topics that you would never blog about? yes, there are. i think everyone has their limits. i’m not gonna sit here and name all the things i don’t wanna talk about (because that would defeat the purpose, no?), but i will say i won’t censor myself here. if i’m posting about it, then i wanna talk about it!

What is the theme/topic of your blog? my misadventures in second life! whether that’s shopping or exploring or meeting new friends or feeling sad or what i’m working on or my (teeny) pose store.. whatever i’m up to in sl, i’ll likely post about here.

Do you have more than one blog? If so, why? right now, no. the thinner i spread myself, the less enjoyment i get out of blogging. so for now, it’s just this blog.

What have you found to be the benefits of blogging? just in general, blogging is a great way to get things off your chest. i tend to be a wears-her-heart-on-her-sleeve kind of girl, but even *i* have things i keep bottled up inside. having a place where i feel safe to share these thoughts is awesome!

beyond that.. blogging is fantastic for finding new friends.. for finding inspiration… for having a timeline of events in your life (or your second life!).. for seeing your own growth… for trying to improve things, whether it’s writing or photography or even breaking through a shy shell.

So, why do you continue to blog? because i can’t seem to not blog. i thought when i closed my fashion blog, that would be it. i was done with blogging about my sl. it was closed and that part was over and i could go back to enjoying second life as a blogger in recovery…

….only, obviously, that didn’t work out so well.

for me, towards the end, fashion blogging was just stressful. i didn’t love feeling like i had obligations.. and the longer i put off those obligations, the more obligated i felt. it was a cycle that got worse and worse until i realized… i willingly took long breaks from it because i just wasn’t have as much *fun* with it as i used to. and when things aren’t fun anymore, when they were fun to begin with, means it’s time for a change.

i just love to write. i love having a place where i can write. and while my second life isn’t the most exciting or the most drama-filled, i like having a place where i can write about it… because i get the urge to do so. once a blogger, always a blogger!

edit: so guess who left a question out by mistake here? …. *raises her hand* i must have deleted it while i was copy/pasting the questions from berry’s blog. i forgot #6, which was…

Do you keep track of how many visitors you have? yes and no. i check my stats from time to time to see where visitors come from, whether it’s from flickr or plurk or a link somewhere else, or even a google search that brought them here. but numbers aren’t important to me. don’t get me wrong, i appreciate *every* single hit i get here… i really do love knowing other people find my ramblings awesome enough to read. but having the most visitors or the most clicks or the biggest audience isn’t why i blog. i blog because i enjoy it, the number of visitors is just an added bonus!

Yay for memes! You can definitely get a hint of your personality through your blogging. I read a few of your posts and your emotions show through so even though it’s new, I just thought I’d let you know. 😀
